Quotes

"Dialogue is mutual search for a new reality, not debate to win with stronger arguments. In a dialogue propositions are pointers toward a common new reality; not against each other to win a verbal battle, but complementing each other in an effort to accommodate legitimate goals of all parties, inspired by theories and values, and constructive-creative-concrete enough to become a causa finalis". Galtuung

"I use the concept of affect as away of talking about a margin of manouverability, the 'where we might be able to go' and 'what we might be able to do' in every present situation. I guess 'affect' is a word I use for 'hope': Massumi

"A discourse is a system of words, actions, rules, beliefs, and institutions that share common values. Particular discourses sustain particular worldviews. We might even think of a discourse as a worldview in action. Discourses tend to be invisible--taken for granted as part of the fabric of reality."Fairclough

Emergence is “the principle that entities exhibit properties which are meaningful only when attributed to the whole, not to its parts.” Checkland

"What the designer cares about is whether the user perceives that some action is possible (or in the case of perceived non-affordances, not possible)." Norman

Context... Research Question :Motivation

Exploring behind the question - Philosophically - re discourse on the subject

ie "Exploring  Concepts,Values& W's and the perceived value of utilising lateral thinking on them

How this relates  re boundary imposition <> identity <>  > Explore via Deleuze, Univocity (Omnicentricity), perhaps Foucault"

When we apply this to our economic system there is posited a divide between the conservative and the revolutionary

I am interested in individual agency and empowerment... via techniques/ concepts ...
but this may  be affected by structure

Can there be a positive mutual relationship between those who prioritise chance and flow (Lateral Thinking)  and those who use knowledge and critique (Traditional Rational Thought)? can we be on friendly terms with both

Its more a case of a continuum than a dualistic relationship  ( language again)

( but when we act in the world we actively prioritise one or the other: follow pattern/structure<>allow emergence (re-produce <>create)) (relate structuration)

1. Critical Approach:
Certain forces encourage us to use  certain 'mediated' forms of communication indeed make them appear essential …this brings with it certain values
eg Denies our  inherent&shared(collective) qualities that may fulfil the roles of those forms of mediation in their absence
I am interested in exploring how people construct their inherent qualities and how they believe they can access them..
I cant just use the critical appoach as I feel I am biasing the study, it informs the need for a focus on the pragmatics of exploring access inherent creativity through random methods... the individuals construct of this : validity : norms, authenticity,

2. Pragmatic Approach

Re: Intention to establish
value of/ setting up a centre / space for such experimentation and get funding

Bridge idea  social network/journey  with a) quotes from successful artists b)random generators c)random exercises, "Explore, Express and Discuss Inherent Creative Potential"

These random expressive flow exercises are a combination of focus-flow-awareness
from a simple random word game (eg mad lib? "poeisis") to art to  the more embodied vocal & performative flow….
Greater percentage inherent organisation faith <> rationality.
My idea was to measure peoples constructs of the emergent holistic…
(see Iverson 2010: "Chance")
(c.f art of mumbling)
before and after the experiments to find out if it was effective
Boundary <>Polarisation<> Image<> signified <> simple association re words complexity
eg if constructed world simple  distinct categories ok eg computer games
if natural world hierarchic nature Wholism must be taken into account as systems are related as parts of a whole.. c.f post structural,  quuote John Cage

3. Structural pairs of:

Grounded-Transformative

Memory - Creativity

Intellect-Spirit

Planned Design - Emergent Design

Architechture - Dance

these all correspond to  the critical thought - appreciative flow relationship
