Quotes

"Dialogue is mutual search for a new reality, not debate to win with stronger arguments. In a dialogue propositions are pointers toward a common new reality; not against each other to win a verbal battle, but complementing each other in an effort to accommodate legitimate goals of all parties, inspired by theories and values, and constructive-creative-concrete enough to become a causa finalis". Galtuung

"I use the concept of affect as away of talking about a margin of manouverability, the 'where we might be able to go' and 'what we might be able to do' in every present situation. I guess 'affect' is a word I use for 'hope': Massumi

"A discourse is a system of words, actions, rules, beliefs, and institutions that share common values. Particular discourses sustain particular worldviews. We might even think of a discourse as a worldview in action. Discourses tend to be invisible--taken for granted as part of the fabric of reality."Fairclough

Emergence is “the principle that entities exhibit properties which are meaningful only when attributed to the whole, not to its parts.” Checkland

"What the designer cares about is whether the user perceives that some action is possible (or in the case of perceived non-affordances, not possible)." Norman

RQ Ideas: CreativeEmpowerment and Reification (Lit search Needed)

Linguistics/Semiotics
And Empowerment
beyond Reification

(A postmodern pespective on alienation and human potential?)
To further Empowerment we need clarity/discussion of Self-Constructs and how they relate to objects/consumption patterns.
It could be argued that the effect of the domination of a cultural space by advertising/publicity ( Ways of Seeing, John Berger,    Barthes?)
  • displaces Inherent Qualities onto the objects being sold...
  • it creates a Temporal Relation[1.] to the quality (to ensure a future market) and
  • in so doing necessitates continued production.
  • (In the case of essential needs this is of course of value but what in the case of non-essentials, and when non-essentials become essentials?)

[1.] Temporal displacement of Quality :
YOU ARE (a) CONSUME (b) BECOME @ for .....m ...YOU ARE a
(Implied Definition/Identification[I/D/I]) (Imperative) (Consequencial I/D/I)(Limitation)(I/D/I)

Sustained imperative: PRODUCE (b)

2. Temporal Displacement of Quality:
YOU ARE (a) REALISE by METHOD (b) BECOME @ for .....m .....YOU ARE (a)
(Definition) (Imperative)(Consequence)(Limitation)(Definition)

Alternatively...
[possibly the norm before dualism, objectivism and market based philosophies dominated conciousness]
3. Aknowledgement of Assumed Quality:
REALISE DEFINITION..
NOTICE ASSUMED IDENTITYas (a)
(Become aware of Definition)
ACTIVELTY ASSUME IDENTITY @ (you could actively assume the character/identity (perhaps a Friend/Teacher/ (historically this was perhaps a God(dess)) with chosen qualities)
(Experiment with new Definition)
BE AWARE OF PERCEPTIONS / DESIRES
(Become aware of differences in Subjective Experience)
ASSUME IDENTITY @ and ALLOW RANDOM FLOW (WHILE FOCUSSING ON @)
(Experiement with dynamic Definition)
BE AWARE OF PERCEPTIONS / DESIRES
(Become aware of differences in subjective Experience)
(The reason (3.) perhaps seems so absurd in our culture? is because of the level to which we have absorbed the ideology of (1.) and (2.)) and hence come to deny the possibility of our union with our environment and the actual abscence of an essential self.
