"Methods" is an open source custom search engine project that intends to structure results information in a way makes explicit certain ideological bias in search results
eg for external produced over internal inherent methods.
for example:
a search on "beauty" may include cosmetics, health, cosmetic surgery, clothing, inner beauty,
once catagorised as
Inherent methods: exercise, inner beauty, meditation, yoga would be placed alongside
Manufactured methods: fashion, cosmnetics, surgery etc
similarly as search on "safety" may yeild: armour, defense, weapons, police, martial arts, social harmony
Natural Methods: environmental balance, social harmony
Manufactured Methods: armour, defense, weapons
Hence exposing and rebalancing any current bias in for example google search...
other methods could include: "communication, power, knowledge" etc
(add current google positions)
there are issues about the simplicityof the catagorisation and the language but I feel these do not negate the basic point and potential of such a system
