Quotes

"Dialogue is mutual search for a new reality, not debate to win with stronger arguments. In a dialogue propositions are pointers toward a common new reality; not against each other to win a verbal battle, but complementing each other in an effort to accommodate legitimate goals of all parties, inspired by theories and values, and constructive-creative-concrete enough to become a causa finalis". Galtuung

"I use the concept of affect as away of talking about a margin of manouverability, the 'where we might be able to go' and 'what we might be able to do' in every present situation. I guess 'affect' is a word I use for 'hope': Massumi

"A discourse is a system of words, actions, rules, beliefs, and institutions that share common values. Particular discourses sustain particular worldviews. We might even think of a discourse as a worldview in action. Discourses tend to be invisible--taken for granted as part of the fabric of reality."Fairclough

Emergence is “the principle that entities exhibit properties which are meaningful only when attributed to the whole, not to its parts.” Checkland

"What the designer cares about is whether the user perceives that some action is possible (or in the case of perceived non-affordances, not possible)." Norman

Motivations

My motivations for the research are as follows, on a personal level I naturally want to move in the direction of happiness, reducing my suffering... I realise this is a shared aim with other  people,  I feel people can  lose track of this or some of the free methods  (eg random expressive flow) of achieving happiness can  get hidden/"abnormalised" by the power and influence of our production / consumption systems on discourse (ideology and hegemony) (instrumental rationality)

I am interested in the relation between language games and happiness, ie social groups as means of achieving a movement towards happiness (See "Happiness" game)  an essential part of this I consider is considering other perspectives and accessing an inner voice via an intuitive flow, and realising complementarity...

The issue of the performative (creative) re empirical (truth referential) use of language  is important re the way we actively "Frame" (what concepts/assumptions we are applying) or are passive recipients of "Framing" of our information flows or engage in a collective discussion of the process... (see Context-Frame)  and how this relates to the (assumed) Power interests mentioned and the concept of the western idea of a persistent/bounded  "self" and assumed Binary Oppositions as addressed by Derrida...
